Peter gazed out of the window as the airplane descended from the clouds towards the islands of Tahiti and Moorea after a long flight over the South Pacific.
“I saw a jewel of land seemingly just breaking the surface of the vast ocean. I could sense the seamount that must anchor the island to the ocean floor far below. At that moment I conceived this ‘island table’ in my mind’s eye. The island form is carved into the underside of the etched and tinted thick glass top. The base is also tinted, etched and carved thick glass.”
